Here’s wishing all my readers in the US a relaxing, fun and laughter filled 4th of July!
Alas, it’s just a normal, quiet, wet summer’s day here in Glasgow. Boo-Hoo!
How are you marking out today? Do you celebrate the significance of it being Independence Day or is it just a great excuse for a holiday?
Either way, enjoy!

How considerate and sweet of you to think of us, thank you! Since it’s not a “yes” or “no” question, lol, I’ll try to give you a general description.
As a child the fourth was always exciting because you could blow stuff up with fireworks. As an adult it’s a paid day off from work and most get together with family and/or friends to feast. Common food fare would be picnic like, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, or steak cooked on an outdoor grill. Or fried chicken, along with side dishes like potato salad, corn on the cobb, baked beans, cottage cheese, tomatos, watermelon, and one’s choice of beverage. American flags are everywhere and in some small towns there may be a parade with marching bands and floats. In the evening some people shoot off their fireworks in the street filling the sky with smoke and although banned in most cities, it would be impossible to enforce. Not a good day for animals that fear bangs and booms. About every community has a public firework display at night and so you sit on a grassy area and ooooh and ahhhh at the pretty booms which usually last a little over an hour. So while it is certainly the celebration of the birth of the nation it also is a celebration of summer.
Hope you have a great weekend even if quiet and wet. 🙂

Sounds absolutely fantastic Maverick! Just how a holiday should be, irrespective of significance, as you rightly say! Thanks for telling me about it and hope that you have a good one 😉

Normally, we go see fireworks. Today, I am watching a marathon of The Walking Dead and reading blogs. I’ve got a cough.
