What are your top ten favorite movies?
I’m not really in the mood for this writing prompt today. My top ten favourite movies feels like a scroll on topic to me; movies are so millennial.
Jest!
Instead, I can treat you to this morning’s mind movie instead. Commuting into the city on the train for my one day per week in the office, I am struck by how many areas of overgrown scrub land surround parts of the inner city. I can only assume the railway company has retained strips for use as yard storage or as buffer against the industrial estates and farms I pass.
Not morbid at all, but before too long my mind tends to leap to the possibility of what dead bodies could be in situ in the bushes and what kind of other nefarious gang land business could be being conducted in black Range Rovers under cover of the scrub land.
This city has certain pretty notorious parts and a fair few high profile murder scenes. I have been fascinated in the past by a particularly tragic manslaughter by drugs/then perp suicide situation where there were repeated media reports of the body of the hung being found after several days of searching in a remote part of x train station (a major central London hub). This absolutely blew my mind. How could a dead body in this day in age occur and swing for days on this particular real estate without said human at least being spotted crawling away to die on CCTV.
My other favourite mind movie scene from the train are inspired by the guerrilla Roma travellers camps comprising a collection of caravans fenced in by home made ramparts track-side. Are they official, or have they sought to squat on this scrub land, largely out of sight; out of mind, yet in the inner city. Are there dogs with sharp teeth? Ok, so a bit stereotypical plot wise…
I don’t know, do any of your mind’s work like this? I just can’t muster to write about my top ten real movies today – sorry to disappoint.

You have a great mind you reel off onto your blog GD. You should release it with a new book. Maybe an adult thriller based in Scotland?
