Around Us

Familiar streets still carry me home. As they did away from you, our moonlit kisses to midnight chimes. The sweetest of goodbyes.

Fatter ringed trees, oh how they know. Watching over us, all of our lives. Me, then you, then us; then you with some other guy.

I knew in the future, they’d hear your babies cry. They now smile sweetly, then whisper to you my haunted sigh.
